Basic Engine costs 104 Wins to go from Level 1 to Level 6; its next upgrade is priced at 5 Diamonds. Starter Engine costs 70 Wins from Level 1 to Level 3, with the next upgrade priced at 100 Wins. Find Engine Upgrade and Improve an Owned Engine

You must own the engine and have enough of the currency shown for its next upgrade. The station is beside START, under a red-and-white umbrella, to the right of the training area.

  1. Enter the yellow circle around the Engine Upgrade device.
  2. Press E / Open.
  3. Find the engine you want to improve: Basic Engine has green-and-white coloring; Starter Engine has red-and-white coloring.
  4. Check that row's current level, bonuses, and next upgrade price, including its currency.
  5. Press Upgrade on that row. Check the updated level and price before buying another level.

An owned engine can be upgraded while unequipped.

Calculate Your Upgrade Budget

Choose the current and target levels for each engine, then add the price of each upgrade between them using the tables below. The listed prices cover Basic Engine Levels 1–7 and Starter Engine Levels 1–4. Add the Wins costs together and keep any Diamonds needed for Basic Engine separate.

  • To budget for just one engine, add only that engine's upgrade prices.
  • If an engine is already at or above your target level, no further upgrades are needed for that target.
  • Purchase prices are excluded from the upgrade totals; add the purchase price separately if you do not already own the engine.

For example, Basic Engine Level 2 → 6 costs 100 Wins, and Starter Engine Level 1 → 3 costs 70 Wins. Together, those upgrades require 170 Wins.

Use the result as your spending target. If you need to earn the difference, the Wins guide and race calculator can help estimate how many races to plan.

Basic Engine Levels and the Diamond Step

The bonuses below are the engine's total displayed bonuses at each level. The last column is the price to advance one more level.

Current level Wins bonus Acc bonus Train bonus Next upgrade price
1 +5% +10% +5% 4 Wins → Level 2
2 +6% +11% +6% 10 Wins → Level 3
3 +6% +12% +6% 20 Wins → Level 4
4 +7% +13% +7% 30 Wins → Level 5
5 +7% +14% +7% 40 Wins → Level 6
6 +8% +15% +8% 5 Diamonds → Level 7

Going from Level 1 to Level 6 costs 104 Wins: 4 + 10 + 20 + 30 + 40. Across that range, the displayed bonuses increase by 3 percentage points in Wins, 5 in Acc, and 3 in Train. Acc increases at every step, while the displayed Wins and Train bonuses stay the same at some steps.

Diamonds pay for Basic Engine's next upgrade at Level 6. Using its listed 5-Diamond price, the Level 1 → 7 budget is 104 Wins plus 5 Diamonds. Keep those currencies separate when planning your spending.

Starter Engine Levels and Purchase Cost

Starter Engine costs 100 Wins to buy from the Engine menu. Its upgrade costs come after that purchase.

Current level Wins bonus Acc bonus Train bonus Next upgrade price
1 +10% +20% +10% 20 Wins → Level 2
2 +11% +22% +11% 50 Wins → Level 3
3 +12% +24% +12% 100 Wins → Level 4

Level 1 → 3 adds 2 percentage points in Wins, 4 in Acc, and 2 in Train. Each of those two upgrades adds the same displayed bonus increase, but Level 2 → 3 costs more.

Target from Level 1 Upgrade cost only Including the 100-Win purchase
Level 3 70 Wins 170 Wins
Level 4, using the listed next-upgrade price 170 Wins 270 Wins

If you already own Starter Engine, budget only for the upgrades remaining above its current level.

Before Spending on an Unequipped Engine

Upgrading does not automatically equip an engine. If Starter Engine is equipped while you upgrade Basic Engine, Starter stays equipped. Use the engine equipment guide when you want to change engines or resolve a full equipment counter.

If you have Basic Engine at Level 2 and 100 Wins to spend, buying Starter Engine is the stronger choice for all three displayed bonuses. Spending that same 100 Wins on Basic takes it to Level 6 with +8% Wins, +15% Acc, and +8% Train. Starter begins at +10% Wins, +20% Acc, and +10% Train.

For the broader choice between upgrading Starter and saving for another model, see the early engine tier list.
