Boat Race with 99 Engines Beginner Guide

Last updated:

Turn your starting raft into a stronger setup by alternating training with races. This guide takes you through your first engine upgrade, pet hatch and equipment swap, then toward the 1,000 Power milestone.

Use E / Train at SPEED 1, enter the glowing START area to earn Wins, then use Leave to return to the lobby. Spend 4 Wins to upgrade Basic Engine to Level 2. Add a pet or equipment that fits your next goal, claim available gifts and achievements, and switch to the green SPEED 2 treadmill when you reach 1,000 Power.

Start with SPEED 1, Then Enter START

Training builds Power to help you progress through races. Races earn Wins, the trophy currency you spend on upgrades, equipment and eggs.

  1. Find the training area near Eggs and the Golden Machine in the lobby.
  2. Approach SPEED 1 and use E / Train. It requires 0 Power, so you can start immediately. Stay on the treadmill to build Power.
  3. Enter the glowing yellow area beneath START to join the water course.
  4. Follow the course and collect Wins at trophy markers along the way. You can earn upgrade money before reaching the finish.
  5. When the tutorial says “Enough Wins! Tap Leave to exit the race!”, click Leave in the lower-right corner to return to the lobby.

If the timer ends before you reach the next marker, return to training and improve your equipment before trying again. For help reading the countdown and course progress, see the racing guide.

Complete the First Engine Upgrade

Your first upgrade costs 4 Wins and raises Basic Engine from Level 1 to Level 2.

  1. Find Engine Upgrade beside START, under the red-and-white umbrella.
  2. Enter the yellow circle in front of the machine and press E / Open.
  3. Find the Basic Engine row and click Upgrade at the 4-Wins price.
  4. Look for the Level 2 confirmation, close the menu, then return to training and racing.

This completes the first equipment step without requiring a new engine purchase. For later levels, check the next price on the engine's row before spending; the engine upgrade guide covers level costs and budgeting.

Add a Pet and Equip Your Purchases

Hatch your first pet

Once you have 30 Wins available for a pet, head to the Eggs display beside START, near the training area.

  1. Approach the leftmost, 30 Wins egg.
  2. Use E / Open to hatch one egg.
  3. Click Click to continue to close the result.
  4. Open Pets using the paw icon on the left. Check the equipped counter and the checkmark on your pet's card; the menu also includes Equip Best.

Dog is one possible result, so an opening does not guarantee a particular pet. Put your pet to use before returning to training. The egg guide covers the hatch pool and planning additional openings.

Choose a 100-Wins purchase

With your starting raft and Basic Engine at Level 2, these are two useful next options:

  • Canadian Canoe — 100 Wins: favor this boat when your next goal is racing or improving Luck.
  • Starter Engine — 100 Wins: favor this engine when your next goal is training, since it improves your Train bonus as well as Wins and Acc.

The boat and engine occupy different equipment categories, so you can eventually use both. Choose according to your immediate goal rather than treating either purchase as a required first step.

Finish the equipment change

In Boats or Engine, select the item, pay its unlock price, then click Equip. Confirm the equipped label or green checkmark.

If the Engine counter reads 1/1, replace the old engine in this order:

  1. Select Basic Engine and click Unequip, bringing the counter to 0/1.
  2. Select Starter Engine and click Equip.
  3. Confirm the counter returns to 1/1 with Starter Engine selected as equipped.

Claim Rewards and Reach 1,000 Power

Collect ready gifts as you play

Open the gift box on the left when it shows CLAIM!, then click the green CLAIM! button beneath an available reward. The slot changes to CLAIMED after collection. You can do this during a race, too.

Power and Wins gifts help fund your next step, but finishing a countdown only makes a gift available—you still need to claim it. See free rewards and online gifts for the other rewards.

Move to SPEED 2

  1. Keep training until your Power reaches 1,000.
  2. Look for New Treadmill Unlocked.
  3. Move to the green SPEED 2 treadmill and use E / Train.

The 1,000 Power threshold unlocks the treadmill without a purchase or deduction. SPEED 2 displays a +3 Power base gain, compared with SPEED 1's +1; your actual gains can be higher with bonuses. The training guide covers later treadmill requirements and estimating progress toward your next goal.

Claim achievement bonuses

Open Achi on the left and check completed targets. Click Claim to collect their rewards.

  • Strength I: reaching 1,000 Power meets its requirement for +5% Train Boost. Check it when you unlock SPEED 2.
  • Wins II: reaching its 500-Wins achievement target unlocks +10% Wins Rewards after claiming. Read the progress inside Achi; it is separate from your current spendable Wins balance.

Choose Your Next Goal

After the first upgrade, let your next activity guide your spending:

  • Build Power: train on your highest unlocked treadmill with pets equipped. Starter Engine supports this goal; at 500 Wins, Standard Jet offers higher displayed Wins, Acc and Train bonuses than Starter Engine at Levels 1–3.
  • Improve races: if you have no trail and can spend 200 Wins, consider White for its displayed +50% Wins and +50% Acc. At 1,000 Wins, Boat is a later replacement for Canadian Canoe with higher displayed Wins, Luck and Acc bonuses.
  • Add pets: reserve 30 Wins per opening of the entry egg. If you are saving for equipment, keep that purchase budget separate so repeated hatches do not delay it.

These are alternative goals, not a fixed shopping order. Use the early build recommendations to choose the next purchase for your current equipment and budget.
